Romelu Lukaku is heartbroken after Belgium’s World Cup exit and has cancelled his holiday to immediately return to Inter, reports detail.

The 29-year-old Nerazzurri star did not have a positive performance in the Red Devils’ final World Cup group game against Croatia, missing four big chances and failing to find the back of the net despite producing an expected goals of 1.73. Lukaku was visibly distraught after the full time whistle and has been heavily criticised by observers from across the spectrum.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku has decided not to go on holiday following Belgium’s World Cup exit and will immediately return to Inter to start preparations for the second half of the season.

The 29-year-old will return to the Lombardy capital in the coming days and could be back in training in Appiano Gentile within the next three days.

Lukaku is desperate to reach full fitness and play an important role for Inter in the second half of this season. His return to the Nerazzurri was initially derailed by a hamstring injury and he’s keen to bounce back in the coming months.
