Defender Luiz Felipe was proud of a “great performance” against Inter but has insisted that Lazio won't get carried away by the “three important points”.

The 22-year-old admitted that Lazio had put a lot of thoughts into how they could limit Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez on Sunday but was happy that their hard work paid off during the 2-1 win against the Nerazzurri.

“We have worked out throughout the week, preparing to face a great team,” he told Lazio Style Channel. “In defence, we knew that we were up against a big challenge against Lautaro Martinez and [Romelu] Lukaku, but we did our job and put down a great performance.

“When we went down, we did well to turn in around through Immobile and Milinkovic.”

Lazio are on an unbeaten run of 19 games in Serie A and the win made sure they climbed above their rivals.

They sit one point behind league leaders Juventus, but Felipe Luiz assures the fans that the Biancoceleste aren’t getting carried away.

“These three points are very important, we were behind Inter and it was necessary to win,” he added. “Now we have to rest and then prepare for the match against Genoa. We knew that Inter would be dangerous after the break and, in fact, we scored from our counterattacks.

“In the second half we were tougher and in the end we won.”

Despite having focused on the attacking threat from Inter, he claimed it’s “difficult to stop” Lazio when they have the right “spirit”.

“We have worked hard to defend against their attackers, but what made the difference was our spirit,” he said. “When we play in this way, it’s very difficult to stop us

“We are up there, but we must continue to take one game at a time. We will think about our targets when there are only a few games left.”
