Multiple sources in Italy claim Luis Enrique is not entirely convinced by Napoli‘s offer so he’s put negotiations with the Partenopei on hold, while Brazil emerge as a competitor for the Spanish tactician.

The former Roma coach is the leading candidate to replace Luciano Spalletti in 2023-24. The Certaldo-born boss confirmed his Napoli exit on Monday.

Luis Enrique is the first name on Napoli’s agenda, but both Gazzetta and Il Corriere dello Sport claimed on Tuesday that the club’s offer does not convince the Spaniard.

Both papers claim money is not the problem, but ‘Lucho’ has put talks on hold because he wants a clear vision of the club’s plans. According to Tuesday’s printed edition of Gazzetta (page 17), Luis Enrique wants to live a ‘special experience.’

The 53-year-old has snubbed Chelsea’s offer and has several admirers in the Premier League. As per Gazzetta, Brazil are also interested in the ex-Roma and Barcelona coach.

Il Corriere dello Sport (page 6) confirms Luis Enrique is taking time before making a final decision. Fiorentina‘s Vincenzo Italiano and Bologna‘s Thiago Motta have been mentioned as Napoli’s alternatives if the Spaniard rejects the Partenopei’s offer.
