Lazio blocked Luis Alberto’s transfer in January, leaving Maurizio Sarri with a valuable option in midfield and pleasing Liverpool, who have a 20% clause on the player’s future sale.

The Spaniard struggled with playing during Sarri’s first season at the Stadio Olimpico and wasn’t a regular starter under the Italian tactician until a few weeks ago.

However, things have changed recently with the former Liverpool midfielder who featured in Lazio’s starting XI in the last eight Serie A games, scoring two goals and providing an assist.

It is no secret that the 30-year-old pushed to leave the Biancocelesti both in 2021 and during the 2023 January transfer window.

According to Calciomercato.com, he had an agreement with La Liga side Cadiz, but Lazio President Lotito refused to loan the player out.

Luis Alberto’s contract at the Stadio Olimpico expires in June 2025 and it is believed that Lazio’s asking price for their midfielder is at least €20m, a request Cadiz could not match in the winter transfer window.

According to the report, Luis Alberto’s sale in the summer can’t be ruled out and Liverpool are also interested in knowing more about the future of their ex-midfielder.

The Spaniard joined Lazio from Liverpool in a €4m deal in 2016 and the Reds have a 20% clause on any future sale, so the higher the transfer fee is, the more they’ll get.
