Luis Alberto explains his magnificent goal and dummy as Lazio stun Napoli 2-1, noting the Biancocelesti ‘can be a strong team when we want to.’

It was a thriller at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, worthy of the teams who took the top two places in Serie A last season.

Their campaigns had started very differently this time around, as the Partenopei had a perfect record and the Aquile lost to both Lazio and Genoa.

However, Luis Alberto’s back-heel flick goal opened the scoring, then his dummy let the Felipe Anderson pass through for the Daichi Kamada winner.

“This was a game where everyone sacrificed themselves. I said, the first game was a disaster, that was not Lazio. When you lose the second like that, I saw improvements, and tonight we showed what we could do against the best team in Serie A,” Luis Alberto told DAZN.

“I am truly happy for all my teammates, for all of Lazio, because this week people said things about this squad that were not fair. We showed that we can be a strong team when we want to.”

The goal was a spectacular bit of improvisation, but the Spaniard tried to spread the credit to his Brazilian teammate.

“Felipe Anderson gave me aa marvellous pass, all I had to do was put it in the net.

“It was not an easy week for us, not easy for me either, so this performance is extraordinary and allows us to shake something off.”

Kamada scored his first Serie A goal and it was thanks to the Luis Alberto dummy.

“I saw him, I saw Di Lorenzo and knew that if I tried to control the ball, he would get it. I let the ball through and Kamada scored a fantastic goal – better than mine!”

Despite the defeat, Napoli rode their luck, as Piotr Zielinski only found the net with a huge deflection, while Mattia Zaccagni and Matteo Guendouzi goals were disallowed by VAR for offside.

“I didn’t want to talk about this, but we cannot play with these referees. They kill you, a week’s worth of work and they just wipe it away in a moment. I hope we get referees with character who can make decisions, but thank goodness that we won today.

“I don’t want to say more, or I will get suspended, but we cannot lose a week’s work because of one person.”
