Luis Alberto has still not responded to Lazio and continues to be absent, with clubs in Spain reportedly monitoring his situation at the Olimpico.

The Spanish midfielder is still absent without having explained his reasons and La Gazzetta dello Sport claims it’s still uncertain when he will return to Rome.

Maurizio Sarri spoke about Luis Alberto during his presentation and stressed the problem is down to the club.

“Luis Alberto did not respond to a call, it’s a managerial and corporate problem,” Sarri told the reporters.

“From a moral point of view, he must speak with me and with his teammates. And he must convince us about the reasons for his delay.

“Otherwise, he will have to apologise to me and to the others. In my teams, there’s no death penalty for those who don’t respect the rules, but certain situations must still be clarified.”

Spanish clubs might be planning to swoop, according to the newspaper, who mentions possible destinations in his homeland.

The report claims Atletico Madrid and Villarreal monitoring the former Liverpool player’s situation, with Real Madrid being a potential suitor too.

Lazio patron Claudio Lotito values the 28-year-old at €50m to €60m, as his contract expires in June 2025, a figure that can be difficult to pay even for a top club.

The 28-year-old arrived at Lazio in 2016 and has since played 175 games for the Aquile, contributing 35 goals and 48 assists in the process.
