Luis Alberto leaves the door open for a possible extension of his Lazio career, saying it was ‘an honour’ to wear the captain’s armband against Galatasaray.

The midfielder has made no secret of his irritation at the lack of playing time or security under coach Maurizio Sarri and his desire to return to Spain and specifically Sevilla to be closer to family.

However, he made a gesture of reconciliation with the club following today’s 2-1 friendly win over Galatasaray in Turkey.

“It was great to be on target after the break for the World Cup. The goal gives me confidence and more motivation,” Luis Alberto told the official Lazio channel.

“October was very difficult with many games, but we’re back now with the determination to do very well in the second half of the season.”

Following some substitutions, Luis Alberto ended up as captain for the final stages of the game.

“We are all the same here. Ciro Immobile is the captain and I know that Danilo Cataldi likes wearing the armband too, but in any case, it is always an honour to be captain.”
