Former Inter and Juventus defender Lucio has joined Brazilian fourth-tier side Gama.

Lucio had been without a club since leaving Indian outfit Goal at the end of last year, but the veteran – who turns 40 next May – will continue his career in the area of his hometown.

A statement on Gama’s official website adds his salary will be paid for by sponsors GoalManage.

The World Cup winner signed for Inter in 2009 and went on to win the treble in his first season, before moving to arch-rivals Juve three years later.

The World Cup winner signed for Inter in 2009 and went on to win the treble in his first season, before moving to arch-rivals Juve three years later.

However, he made just one appearance for the Bianconeri in Serie A and subsequently returned to Brazil with Sao Paulo and Palmeiras, prior to playing under Udinese legend Zico at Goa.
