Ajax talent Lorenzo Lucca underlined his happiness with the Eredivisie giants and seemed frustration with the lack of a call up to the Italy national team.

The 22-year-old Italian forward joined the Dutch side on a loan deal with a €10m buy option attached from Serie B side Pisa last summer, a sign of his potential.

Since his arrival at the club, Lucca has scored two goals in 11 Eredivisie appearances, continuing to be an exciting and emerging talent.

Speaking to Mola TV, Lucca first spoke about his arrival at Ajax and happiness at the club.

“Here in Amsterdam, I am very happy. The city is very nice and I just have to think about staying calm and helping my teammates when the coach calls for me. I’d like to be redeemed by Ajax to stay here and score goals.”

He seemingly ruled out a return to Italy in the near-future.

“My future is not in Italy.”

Finally, Lucca was asked about Roberto Mancini’s decision not to call him up for Italy’s upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers against England and Malta.

“Don’t ask me that, you have to ask the people in charge.”

The 22-year-old Lucca made six appearances for the Italy Under-21 side, scoring two goals and providing one assist in that time.
