Former Pisa talent Lorenzo Lucca made his competitive debut for Ajax in their league match against Groningen this afternoon.

The 21-year-old Italian talent joined the Dutch giants earlier this month from Pisa on a €1m loan deal with a €10m conditional obligation to buy clause attached. A future resale clause was also included in the deal, with many excited about the potential of Lucca.

As highlighted by Gianluca Di Marzio, Lucca made his debut for Ajax in their 6-1 win over Groningen this afternoon, becoming their first ever Italian debutant. The 21-year-old was brought on as a substitute in the 69th minute of the match, replacing Brian Brobbey.

The Italian forward has taken a remarkable leap, considering that last campaign he was lighting up Serie B with Pisa, scoring six goals and providing four assists in the regular season. He’ll be hoping to make a Champions League debut at some point in the coming months.
