The former Liverpool midfielder has claimed the group at the Olimpico have the required experience in Europe to do well in the prestigious competition next season.
“The important thing is that we are united,” Lucas told Sky Sport Italia. “Experience counts a lot, but other players in the squad have a lot of experience in Europe or in Serie A, despite not having played in the Champions League.
He also revealed he will return to the fold next week, as he is almost fully recovered from a knee injury,
“During the lockdown, it didn’t go so well with my knee. But now I’m in the final part of my rehabilitation. From next week, if all goes well, I can re-join the group.”
Lazio challenged Juventus for the Scudetto ahead of the forced break in 2019-20, but the defensive midfielder doesn’t want to focus on putting together another title challenge in 2020-21.
“It’s early to talk about the Scudetto. In the meantime, we must remain in the Champions League.”
