Alessandro Lucarelli admits Parma’s crisis is weighing on the players, and pleads for a buyer to come in.

The relegated Ducali will not be allowed to register for Serie B next season unless a €74m sporting debt is cleared, and the club captain admits the situation is difficult.

“It takes so much strength to move forward,” Lucarelli told Radio Crc.

“The situation weighs on us every day. We’ve been going along with this farce for many days now, and that’s simply because of pride, passion, and love for our work.

“It takes so much strength to move forward,” Lucarelli told Radio Crc.

“The situation weighs on us every day. We’ve been going along with this farce for many days now, and that’s simply because of pride, passion, and love for our work.

“What we are left with in this beautiful League is going onto the pitch on a Sunday, because for the rest of the time it’s become difficult to even prepare for games, but we’ll try to keep going as best we can.

“We hope that someone is interested in taking over Parma so that we can start again from Serie B. It would be a redemption for us players, it’s one of our battles.

“Moreover, we’ve tried to change some rules so that what happened to Parma never happens to anyone ever again.

“We arrived at this point entirely because there were rules which allowed Parma to do what they did, and then there are people like [former President Giampietro] Manenti.

“He bought the club for a Euro, that sends out a bad impression to the world. We were able to change some rules so that there are more controls over the clubs, because Parma is the tip of the iceberg.

“I believe that improving Italian football is in everyone’s interest.”

Several other players have walked away from the stricken club, with Ishak Belfodil the latest, but Lucarelli says he could never follow suit.

“I didn’t want to terminate my Parma contract.

“I must admit, there has been no interest from other clubs, but even if there was, my conscience wouldn’t allow me to leave.

“I’m the captain, I have responsibilities and I wouldn’t jump ship. I have to accept everyone’s personal choices, including those who left, but I’m glad to have stayed.

“I’ll fight to the end with my teammates so that perhaps someone will save Parma. We’ve done everything just to give Parma a future, and I hope those sacrifices are rewarded.”
