Alessandro Lucarelli admits Parma are drinking in the last chance saloon, as he arrives for a crucial hearing.

A final auction for the Ducali yesterday failed to attract a concrete bid, and a bankruptcy judge will today decide whether to wind the club up or allow them to negotiate for a private sale.

If the decision is the former, Parma will have to start again from the amateur leagues next season, rather than in Serie B.

“I was hoping there’d be no need to be here, but here we are,” Lucarelli told reporters outside the courthouse.

“Let’s see what comes out of this meeting. After yet another unsuccessful auction, we can’t be optimistic.

“This is the last card we can play, it’s a desperate one. We hope to convince the judge to give us the opportunity to play.

“If the doubts are clarified, the chances are high that Parma can be sold. If there’s a chance, it’s private negotiations, another auction wouldn’t make sense.

“We hope we can find a solution, there’s so much disappointment in the team. We had hoped that yesterday was the last chapter of this story.

“Let’s see what happens today.”
