Parma captain Alessandro Lucarelli has assured Jonathan Biabiany that he has the full support of his teammates.

The 23-year-old was closing in on move to Milan on transfer deadline day, before the plug was pulled on the transaction when, as confirmed by Parma yesterday, a cardiac problem was detected.

Now with the forward concentrating on regaining full fitness, the rest of his colleagues have rallied around him.

“What happened to Jonathan is one of those things that go beyond the football pitch,” club captain Lucarelli has told reporters today.

“His situation is a delicate one, but we want him to know that he has our full support and we are close to him.

“He knows he can count on us, and we expect him as back as soon as possible. It is normal that it is felt when you are without players like him, [Mattia] Cassani and [Gabriel] Paletta.”

The Gialloblu are also without experienced that experienced pair, the former of whom will spend the next few months on the sidelines following back surgery.

It’s not been an easy start to the season on the pitch for the Ducali either.

“We must redouble our efforts to make up for their absences,” Lucarelli continued, in reference to opening defeats this season to Cesena and Milan.

“When you play together for many years, you become well organised and you know each other’s actions almost by heart.

“It’s normal that these mechanisms are not so well oiled when you have new teammates, but we train together every day and we are all of Serie A quality. We are able to climb back up.”

Parma, who lie bottom of Serie A, travel to Chievo on Sunday with the hope of registering their first points of the season.
