Lozano is closing in on a €42m move to Napoli after two seasons at PSV, and Jesus Martinez Patino knows the Mexican well, having overseen his development at Pachuca.

“He didn’t really want to study, but on the field he was unstoppable,” he told Tuttomercatoweb.

“He’s always had very good qualities: he was quick, strong technically and with a natural instinct for goals, despite having never played as a No 9 and only as a winger.

“Besides that, he’s always been a guy with his head screwed on and a great person. We all love him here and we haven’t forgotten it was thanks to his goals that we won a League title and a CONCACAF Champions League.

“He’s absolutely ready for Napoli. They have a real shot at the Scudetto with him. Lozano is a devastating forward who can improve every part of his game under Ancelotti.

“He’ll do very well in Serie A and he’ll announce himself as one of the best players of this era. We’re talking about one of one of the 10 best forwards in the world.

“He is and will always be an iconic figure for Pachuca and Mexican football, in part thanks to the great World Cup he had last year.

“You’ll see how many jerseys Napoli will sell here after his transfer. Lozano isn’t only a brilliant star on the field. He also is in terms of image and business.”
