Hirving Lozano was all smiles after Napoli’s impressive Champions League campaign and highlighted the qualities of coach Luciano Spalletti.
The Partenopei have already booked their spot in the Round of 16 of the competition after securing a 4-2 win over Ajax earlier this week, giving them 12 points after the first four games. Napoli have been one of the most exciting teams to watch in Europe this season and they’re now building a strong Scudetto bid in the run-up to the World Cup break.
Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, Lozano first reflected on Napoli’s Champions League win over Ajax and the impact of the new arrivals.
“We had a great Champions League game, we feel good, we’re doing great things but now we’re thinking about securing first place in the league.
“A lot of strong players have left but others have arrived who are equally strong, young and talented and who have immediately settled in well. We’re thinking game by game, we just want to give our best.”
He spoke highly about Spalletti and his work in the Campania capital.
“Spalletti is very important, he created a united squad, he’s a great coach and if we are so united it’s thanks to him.
“He prepares the matches in the best way, he will still give us a big hand. The squad is deep and he considers everyone and everyone wants to do well and give 100%.”
The Mexican forward confirmed that he was willing to take a penalty if needed.
“I also offered to take one, at the moment there are others who shoot them well. But my chance will come and I will be ready.”
He looked ahead to the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.
“The first match will be against Zielinski’s Poland, it will be nice to face them and I hope Simeone will be there with Argentina. The new guys have all impressed me and they are really good.”
Finally, Lozano sent a brief message to the Napoli fans.
“To always support us, I hope everything will go well and we always want their support.”
