The blazing row between Lazio and Napoli escalated today when President Claudio Lotito said the Partenopei “lost their history in Serie C.”
Lotito already slammed the “lack of fair play” after Napoli's 4-3 win on Sunday and reportedly came to blows with President Aurelio De Laurentiis during an official dinner to discuss pay-per-view television rights.

Lotito already slammed the “lack of fair play” after Napoli's 4-3 win on Sunday and reportedly came to blows with President Aurelio De Laurentiis during an official dinner to discuss pay-per-view television rights.
“Edinson Cavani dived and was awarded a penalty. In the same weekend, Javier Zanetti fouled Antonio Cassano for a spot-kick and was booked, while Giuseppe Biava was sent off. I demand uniformity in the decisions of referees,” the Lazio patron told Il Messaggero newspaper.
The row over splitting up pay-per-view television rights is set to drag on, as the Romans want more than second-placed Napoli.
“We were offered €49m for the television rights, but I ask why Lazio should be the only club to take a cut?
“Does it count for nothing that we are one of the teams in the Capital? Doesn't our history matter? Lazio have 111 years of history, while in recent years won the Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup. I don't think the others did.
“Plus we have always been called Lazio and not Napoli Soccer. It's too easy to begin again from Serie C1 and not pay off a club's debts, but at least you lose your history in Serie C.”
The reference was to Napoli, who went bankrupt in 2004 and began again from the Third Division under the name Napoli Soccer.
After a few years, the original title Napoli was auctioned off and President Aurelio De Laurentiis bought it.
