President Claudio Lotito insists Lazio have reinforced this season and ‘more will come’ before the transfer window is closed. ‘I don’t sell dreams, only solid reality.’

The Biancocelesti qualified for the Champions League after more than a decade, finishing fourth in Serie A last term.

“We will try to do the best we possibly can, although we’re not alone and there are also imponderable factors to take into consideration,” said Lotito at the presentation for the 2020-21 Lazio Women season.

“Last season, we were in a position to expect something more, but we settled for what we achieved. This year, we’re trying to learn from that experience and above all expand the squad with new figures who can bring something more.”

Fans have been critical of the signings so far, but Lotito was adamant he’d bolstered Lazio’s options with Gonzalo Escalante, Pepe Reina, Vedat Muriqi and Mohamed Fares.

“It’s clear to all what we have done. We signed a midfielder, a goalkeeper, a striker and a winger. You’ll see that more will come, too.

“As for our objectives this season, I have always said that I don’t sell dreams, only solid reality. My job is to put this team in a condition to do its best. Unfortunately, I am not the one stepping on to the pitch.

“This squad has everything it takes to do well. After that, I cannot know what will happen on the field.”
