According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Claudio Lotito met Maurizio Sarri last week to discuss the coach’s contract extension and the strategies for the next season.

The Rome-based paper reports that Lotito and Sarri met for dinner on May 5, with the club’s chairman pushing to extend Sarri’s contract before the end of the season. Sarri had signed a two-year deal last summer and reportedly agreed on a contract extension until 2025 in December. However, he didn’t put pen to paper on a new contract following a disappointing January transfer window.

Lotito is determined to keep hold of the former Juventus and Napoli boss and did also discuss the club’s transfer strategies during his last meeting with the coach. Sarri wants at least seven new signings and may need even more if Sergej Milinkovic-Savic leaves the club in the summer.

According to the report, Sarri wants a new goalkeeper, two central defenders, a left-back, two central midfielders and a back-up for Ciro Immobile. Francesco Acerbi is likely to leave the club and the same is true of Thomas Strakosha, Luiz Felipe and Lucas Leiva, who see their contracts expire in June.
