Lazio President Claudio Lotito got into a row with reporters at a Press conference after assuring “plans will not be abandoned.”

Marcelo Bielsa sensationally quit just two days after the club registered his contract, so they are suing him for damages.

Simone Inzaghi has been appointed to take over with pre-season training already begun.

Lotito was last up at a Press conference today and made it clear he would not be taking questions, but reporters shouted their protest and some even walked away once he began talking.

“I came here to clarify the future prospects and reassure the fans,” said Lotito.

“The Lazio plans will not be abandoned. The transfer market will see the conclusion of the objectives we have set. Some people forget the transfer window in Italy opens on July 1.

“It is in our own interests to reinforce the squad and keep it competitive, with or without Bielsa. The investments remain those we agreed with Bielsa.

“Inzaghi was a decision made to bring back authentic Lazio values. He has been at the club for years and achieved important results in the youth academy. He is not a second choice, but a decision made when a contract was broken for reasons that we could not control.

“We saw in Inzaghi the ideal Coach to bring forward a project initially worked out with Bielsa.

“When it came to choosing Bielsa, it was an act of love towards the fans. I am calm, as this season we have everything it takes to do well and all the investments are present.

“I am convinced that with respect to the timing and rules, we will achieve all the reinforcements predicted to make the team more competitive.”
