Lazio President Claudio Lotito announces Maurizio Sarri will sign a two-year contract extension, but players admit they are still not doing what the coach wants.

Sarri signed a two-year deal with the Biancocelesti in the summer, and despite a disappointing start to the season, Lotito has decided to extend his stay at the club by two more years.

“I’ve met a man who can make the difference in the world of football. He lives football with passion and if somebody thinks he is on the brink, I can ensure it’s not like this,” he said during the team’s Christmas dinner.

“I’ve given the mandate to renew his contract by two years automatically.”

Lazio have only collected 26 points in 16 matches and Lotito blames the players for Lazio’s poor results.

“People stop me in the street asking me what’s going on. Some players don’t remember where they are, somebody has forgotten about the team spirit. Not everybody understands the sacrifice that we do, but we must respect everyone’s work.”

Lazio players also spoke before and during the event.

“I like the coach, but we are still not doing what he wants,” said Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

“With time, we will make it, we’ll see the results sooner or later.”

“We must go the opposite direction than the one we are going now,” continued the captain Ciro Immobile.

“We are not happy with what we are doing, we don’t need drama, but changes. The President is trying to motivate us. As a good head of a family, he must use the carrot and the stick.”
