The Argentine was in tears on Sunday after scoring in the Sicilian derby against Palermo which intimated that a move was on the cards.

Italian champions Milan are very keen on the former Barcelona player, but they are not the only interested party.

“There is a 90 per cent chance that Maxi Lopez will leave,” Catania director Pietro Lo Monaco noted on Monday to Radio Anch’io Lo Sport.

“There is already an agreement in place with Milan, but we are also in possession of other offers for him.”

Milan have made it clear that they’ll only make a move for Lopez should they fail to sign Carlos Tevez from Manchester City.

“To give Milan one of our players is something to be proud of,” Lo Monaco continued. “The Rossoneri have asked us for time and 15 days have passed since then.

“We, as a small club, will just have to deal with anything that happens.”

Lopez, 27, moved to Catania in January 2010 after a spell on loan at Gremio. He’s also played for River Plate, Barcelona, Mallorca and FC Moscow.
