Argentine-born Catania ace Maxi Lopez has again intimated that he wants an international future with Italy.

The striker noted last April that he would be willing to represent the Azzurri after failing to win full honours with his native Argentina.

Although capped at Under-20 level, he hasn't featured for the full Argentine side and he is in possession of an Italian passport.

"The Italian national team? I'm just concentrating on Catania right now," said the man who scored the winner against Udinese on Wednesday.

"The blue shirt of Italy will only arrive as a consequence of the work that I do with my club side."

Lopez was a massive success at Catania last season after scoring 11 goals in just 17 games.

The former Barcelona player has found things a bit more problematic this term though, netting just twice from 17 shots in 10 League games.

New Italy boss Cesare Prandelli has opened the door to 'Oriundi' – foreign-born Italian nationals – having already capped Brazilian Amauri this term.

Lopez though is unlikely to be named in the 23-man squad on Sunday for the midweek friendly against Romania.
