The 22-year-old revealed coach De Zerbi reminds him of former Marseille coach Bielsa.

“The first contact I had with Boga, he told me that coach De Zerbi wanted me at Sassuolo,” Lopez told BeIN Sports France.

“His thoroughness struck me. He’s very skilled tactically, he’s crazy about the details,” he added. “To me, De Zerbi makes me think of Bielsa.

“There has been a good feeling since the first call. We talked a bit in Spanish and our vision of football helped us click immediately. It only took five minutes.

“He gave me back my confidence and I try to reciprocate.”

Lopez has been praised for his efforts at the Neroverdi and said his first goal for the club – against Napoli – felt ‘incredible’.

“If they had told me a month ago, I would have never believed it. Receiving all this praise and scoring that goal against Napoli was incredible.”

Lopez has played four Serie A games for Sassuolo so far this term.
