“There’s no secret that this compressed calendar means we don’t have time to train. We can only do recovery work between matches, so the team that adapts better to the situation will inevitably get stronger results,” said the coach in his press conference.
“Inter are an excellent team with quality players and the organisation given to them by a great coach. We need a huge performance if we are to come away from San Siro with points.
“The Nerazzurri are particularly dangerous from crosses and set plays, allowing many of their players to find the net.”
Torino ended their dismal run with a 3-1 victory over Brescia midweek, which allowed them to break away from the danger zone, but Simone Zaza is suspended at San Siro.
“Andrea Belotti is an extraordinary striker and can score a goal at any moment,” continued Longo.
“What we must do is create the situation for him to find the net and be an added bonus for the team. We dialogue regularly on what suits him best and how we can help support him, based on his characteristics.
“Simone Verdi had this slight injury, but he’s been in good shape since the lockdown. By putting him closer to the goal, he can give his best.”
There are already reports Longo will be dismissed this summer, having replaced Walter Mazzarri in February.
“The only thing that matters is Toro. Personal interests do not exist. We have to face the remaining seven matches this season and pick up the points that Torino need by working as a unit, thinking of us and not I.”
