English midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has taken Serie A by storm with five goals in 18 matches, proving to be a bargain signing for Milan who signed him for just €15m plus bonuses from Chelsea last summer.

A Loftus-Cheek brace against Bologna on Saturday night helped Milan avoid defeat at San Siro in a game where the Rossoneri missed two penalty kicks.

With his two goals against the Rossoblu, RLC has now netted five times in 18 Serie A matches this term, so he is just one goal away from his best-ever season when he scored six Premier League goals at Chelsea in 2018-19 under Maurizio Sarri.

Milan signed the 28-year-old for just €15m plus €3m add-ons last summer and Calciomercato.com reports the Rossoneri had been monitoring him since 2020-21 when they met the English midfielder in a Champions League game against Chelsea.

Loftus Cheek has already scored in three league games in 2024, more than any other midfielder in Europe’s top five leagues. He is also the most prolific midfielder in the top five leagues this year alongside Empoli‘s Szymon Żurkowski.

Milan coach Stefano Pioli compared the ex-Chelsea man to Sergej Milinkovic-Savic after Saturday’s draw against Bologna, and Loftus-Cheek has proved to be a bargain signing for the Rossoneri who hope to enjoy more of his goals until 2027 when his contract with the Serie A giants expires.
