Catania President Antonio Pulvirenti has insisted that Francesco Lodi will not return to the club.

Lodi left the Elefanti for Genoa in the summer, but reports in the Italian Press have claimed that the playmaker could leave the Grifone in January.

The Sicilian side’s chief however, has moved to calm fans’ expectations, saying the attacker won’t be coming back.

“Lodi? I’d say no [to a return],” he told Telecolor. “It was clear to everyone over the summer that he wanted to leave Catania.

“I can’t see him coming back here.”

Pulvirenti then commented on Rolando Maran’s sacking earlier this season.

“I have respect for Maran, but if it was solely up to me I would have changed the Coach earlier.

“The team was badly prepared from an athletic point of view – the proof is the amount of injuries we picked up at the start of the season.”
