Manuel Locatelli scored his first goal in the Juventus jersey and admits ‘the fundamental thing was to win’ against Sampdoria.
It was another frankly unconvincing performance from the Bianconeri, but they did get their first home victory of the season.
Paulo Dybala scored a splendid opener before limping off in tears with a muscular injury, then a Leonardo Bonucci penalty and Manuel Locatelli’s first goal in the Juve jersey made sure Maya Yoshida’s header and an Antonio Candreva strike could not turn it around.
“We are all responsible, we all know what we have to do on the field and to help each other out. The fundamental thing today was to win,” Locatelli told DAZN.
“What happens in the locker room stays there, we listen to what the coach says and must get our way back up the table.”
The game was overshadowed by Dybala’s injury and more tests will be required on the muscular issue, but it seems unlikely he’ll be able to face Chelsea on Wednesday.
“I hope it’s nothing serious. He is our great champion and we hope he’ll be back as soon as possible.”
