Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli said he ‘couldn’t think about’ the transfer market during EURO 2020. ‘The interest from Juventus is pleasing’.

The Bianconeri are being linked with the Italy midfielder, who was given an important role at the Euros when Marco Verratti started the competition injured.

Locatelli responded with two goals in the 3-0 win over Switzerland and played an important part in the Azzurri side that went all the way in the competition.

Despite the rumours of a possible move to Juventus and Neroverdi CEO Giovanni Carnevali confirming he will meet with the Bianconeri this week, Locatelli said he ‘couldn’t think’ about a possible move whilst he was with the Azzurri.

“Up until now, I haven’t really thought about it, I couldn’t,” Locatelli told Sky Sport Italia. “The interest of Juventus is pleasing, they are a great team and I have said it several times.”

Locatelli missed his penalty in the shootout against Spain in the semi-finals, and Giorgio Chiellini embraced the Sassuolo player when Italy prevailed.

“The world was collapsing around me and he [Chiellini] kept repeating to rest assured, because we would have won,” Locatelli said.

“He told me the same yesterday and apparently he was right. I would have taken one yesterday, anyway, luckily the others did it.”
