Locatelli celebrates Juventus win and Champions League debut

Manuel Locatelli made his Champions League debut for Juventus and insists the experienced teammates and coach Max Allegri helped him handle any pressure.

The Bianconeri had a comfortable evening in Sweden, sweeping past Malmo 3-0 with Alex Sandro’s header, a Paulo Dybala penalty and Alvaro Morata strike.

They needed that after a dismal start to the Serie A season, picking up one point from three rounds.

“It has not been an easy month, so it was fundamental tonight that we won and didn’t concede a goal, we achieved both those aims,” Locatelli told Sport Mediaset.

“There was no worry, as we have strong players who have a great deal of experience and know how to handle the pressure. The coach made us feel relaxed and we just have to continue working.

“I have some very talented teammates and it’s easier to play alongside them. We’ll get stronger as the season goes on and play better.”

Juventus face Serie A leaders Milan this weekend, a blast from the past for Locatelli, who came up through their academy.

“It’s going to feel strange, as Milan were so important for me. I am now at Juve, the club I wanted since I was a child. Milan are a strong opponent, but we are Juve and playing at home.

“The objective is to win and close the gap from the top of the table.”

Locatelli was great tonight and even solid in the last game – Allegri needs to keep him a starter.

Locatelli is the only Italian player in the midfield so that Allegri must keep him in the on the pitch every game
