Napoli are in discussions with Tottenham over the potential transfer of midfielder Giovanni Lo Celso, the player’s agent has confirmed.

Lo Celso’s agent recently appeared as a guest on Radio Punto Nuovo, discussing the 27-year-old’s future and possible movements over the summer transfer window.

As it transpires, Napoli are keen on bringing the Argentine midfielder in from Tottenham, where he is contracted until the summer of 2025.

Lo Celso’s agent told Radio Punto Nuovo: “They (Napoli and Tottenham) are talking about it, but for the moment nothing is closed yet.”

However, as per Calciomercato, it is likely that Lo Celso’s arrival would be viewed as a replacement for Piotr Zielinski, who could secure a move away from the Stadio Maradona this summer.

Lo Celso spent the last 18 months on loan with Villarreal, where he has made 38 appearances in LaLiga, chipping in with three league goals along the way.

He is currently paid around €4m net per season, which is considered slightly too high for Napoli’s budget and would need to be re-evaluated.

Calciomercato details that a loan with the option to buy is considered to be the most likely outcome.
