Fernando Llorente said the players he spoke to at Udinese ‘convinced’ him to join them at the Dacia Arena.

The Spanish forward has joined the Bianconeri after one and a half years at Napoli, but he has previous stints at Athletic Bilbao, Juventus, Swansea and Tottenham.

He spoke to his friends at the Friuli before accepting a move to Udine.

“The fantastic organisation of a club that takes great care of the players pushed me to accept this proposal,” Llorente said, as he was presented by the club.

“I also spoke to [Roberto] Pereyra, a friend I met at Juventus, [Rodrigo] de Paul and [Gerard] Deulofeu. Everyone spoke very highly of Udinese and convinced me.”

Udinese are currently 14th in Serie A, four points above Cagliari at 18th and Llorente hopes he can contribute to help the club climb away from the relegation battle.

“The current situation of the team is not what they hoped for at the start of the season, but the room for improvement is vast and I hope to make an important contribution.”
