“We spoke a little before the end of the transfer window,” Ljajic explained.

“It was certainly difficult to leave Roma, but I spoke to Mancini and he convinced me, and in the end I wanted to come here.”

Ljajic will link-up with Stevan Jovetic once again for the Beneamata, having forged a fruitful relationship at Fiorentina.

“He’s one of the strongest players, one who makes me better. We did good things together in Florence, and I’m happy to play with him again.

“He’s a great friend of mine, he’s like a brother to me, and to reunite with him here is a beautiful thing.”

The attacking midfielder was also asked whether Inter could aim for the Scudetto, with Juventus having lost their opening two games.

“They’ve won the last four titles,” Ljajic reminded the assembled media.

“They have something more. We’re just going to take things one game at a time and see where we end up.”
