Multiple reports claim Liverpool are interested in Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer who has rejected a contract extension with the Rossoneri.

The Algeria international has entered the fourth year of his contract at Milan and the Serie A champions have been in talks for a long time with his entourage, trying to reach an agreement over a new deal.

Bennacer’s €1.7m-a-year contract runs out in June 2024 and according to Calciomercato.com, he has rejected an offer worth €3m per year.

The gap between the offer and request isn’t huge as Bennacer wants to double his current wages, but there is still no agreement between the two parties.

Reports in the UK suggest Bennacer is a target for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and today’s printed edition of Il Corriere dello Sport newspaper confirms the 24-year-old has admirers at Anfield.

Negotiations between Milan and Bennacer’s agent will continue as the Rossoneri don’t want to part ways with the ex-Empoli starlet.

Paolo Maldini is keen on reaching an agreement and is looking for more midfield reinforcements to replace Franck Kessié, who joined Barcelona after the end of his contract with the Rossoneri.
