Liverpool’s Salah: Totti my idol, incredible to be together at Roma

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah said Francesco Totti had been a boyhood idol of his long before they teamed up together at Roma.

The two played alongside each other for two seasons at the Stadio Olimpico before Totti retired and Salah moved to Anfield,

Asked during an interview with BRSport, who his idols growing up were, Salah said: ” [Zinedine] Zidane, Ronaldo and Totti.”

Salah was also asked what made Totti different and he said: “I couldn’t tell you. When you hear people talk about Roma, you always hear Totti.

“His highlights in the league… in my mind, he was always amazing. When I played with him, you could see.

“He was getting on a bit but his quality was incredible.”

Totti spent his entire 24-year career, from 1992 to 2017, was Roma, while Salah was there from 2015 to 2017.

Together, they earned a third and second-place finish in Serie A but were unable to stop Juventus whose nine-year streak of Serie A wins had reached its fifth and sixth years.

Salah made 41 appearances in all for the Giallorossi and scored 29 goals.

Since moving to Liverpool, he has established himself as one of the best players in world football, winning the Premier League and Champions League.
