Inter face a tough task against Liverpool tonight, but two Nerazzurri players have already eliminated Jurgen Klopp from Europe in the past: Samir Handanovic and Alexis Sanchez when they were playing for Udinese.

The Nerazzurri hope to bounce back tonight, after a 2-0 loss in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 at the Stadio Meazza three weeks ago. Manchester United are the only team that managed to progress to the following stage after a home defeat by two goals in the first leg. Liverpool haven’t lost at home for one year, which says a lot about Simone Inzaghi’s arduous task tonight.

However, two Inter players already eliminated Klopp from Europe: Handanovic and Alexis Sanchez. The goalkeeper and the striker were playing for Udinese when, back in 2008, they eliminated Borussia Dortmund from the UEFA Cup.

The Friulani, coached by Pasquale Marino, had won the first leg 2-0 in Germany but lost with the same result at the Stadio Friuli. They managed to qualify for the second round of the competition after a penalty shootout, with Handanovic saving two spot-kicks. The experienced goalkeeper will start for Inter tonight, while Edin Dzeko is favourite over Alexis Sanchez to get a spot in the Nerazzurri’s XI.
