Napoli are expected to sell Mexico international Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano before his contract runs down, with Liverpool said to be interested.

The 27-year-old is only tied to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona until June 2024 and has a release clause worth circa €130m.

However, with the contract reaching its final stages, an exit seems inevitable either in January or over the summer.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lozano has made it clear he has no intention of lowering his current €4.5m per season salary.

At the same time, Napoli are on a cost-cutting exercise and Lozano is not even a guaranteed starter in Luciano Spalletti’s side.

He joined them from PSV Eindhoven in 2019 for €45m, but has never lived up to that potential after 30 goals and 16 assists in 133 competitive games.

Liverpool have been linked with Lozano over the last few months and would be the favourites for his signature.

So far this season, Chucky has four goals and three assists in 22 games between Serie A and the Champions League.
