There were a few raised eyebrows when midfielder Thiago Alcantara took part in the last couple of training sessions and was named in the travelling party, as he has been out of action since sustaining a hamstring injury against Fulham on August 6.
Former Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo is also in the side, but Jordan Henderson, Curtis Jones and Fabio Carvalho are out of action.
Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are long-term absentees for the Premier League side.
It is a return to Italy for former Roma players Alisson Becker and Mohamed Salah.
