Genoa Coach Fabio Liverani joked about the ‘camouflage gear spying on Sampdoria’ after their 3-0 Derby victory.

The lead-up to Sunday night’s game was dominated by Samp discovering Genoa youth team goalkeeping coach Luca De Prà in camouflage gear spying on their training session from the bushes.

“In football we take ourselves far too seriously, as you can’t keep too many things secret in this sport,” said Liverani in his Press conference.

“If we want to go all the way, I say De Prà did a great job! If we lose it’s my fault, but if we win then it’s all thanks to De Prà.

“In any case, the victory was important to build belief in our capabilities. The difference was made on the pitch by the players with their focus and determination.

“The two strikers in particular were exceptional in their work to help the team. Alberto Gilardino is highly motivated and at this time has extraordinary mental focus.”

Liverani was promoted to the senior Genoa bench after just one year working in their youth academy, so that was his debut Serie A win.

“I received messages from many of my friends and former teammates for that win, but it is already time to look forward to the next game with Livorno.”
