This will be one of only five games going ahead in Serie A this weekend, as those due to be played behind closed doors due to the Coronavirus outbreak have now been rescheduled for May 13.

“As usual, in Italy decisions are made without any reasoning or logic. This is the dark side of football, the kind we tried to clean up, but this decision looks after the interests of only four or five clubs,” said Liverani in his press conference.

“I cannot find any logic to the decision to cancel games in Milan, but allow Atalanta fans to travel to Lecce from Bergamo, where there are more Coronavirus cases than anywhere else.”

Atalanta are currently in fourth place and preparing for the Champions League trip to Valencia.

“It’ll be a game full of individual duels all over the pitch and we cannot afford to lose many of them. Atalanta have few weaknesses, but they too have been able to lose points in unthinkable fixtures.

“The only way we can really cause them problems is by running as hard as they do. We are in good shape, even if it took a few more days to fully recover from the 4-0 defeat at Roma. We want to hang on to the top flight.

“Mauro Vigorito did not train regularly over the last few days, so Gabriel will play in goal. There are some other doubts and we’ll see. Compared to last week, we have Riccardo Saponara available again.”
