Fabio Liverani is the latest coach to interview for the Cagliari job, after Pippo Inzaghi, Daniele De Rossi and Aurelio Andreazzoli.
The Sardinians were relegated on the final day of the season after failing to beat Venezia, so need to begin again from Serie B.
President Tommaso Giulini wants a strong name on the bench and has approached Pippo Inzaghi as well as ex-Empoli boss Andreazzoli.
De Rossi would be getting his first senior management role, as he is currently working as a member of Roberto Mancini’s Italy staff.
Sportitalia transfer pundit Alfredo Pedullà reports that the latest candidate to be called in for talks is Liverani.
The former Lazio and Perugia midfielder made his Serie A debut as a coach at Genoa in 2013, lasting only seven games.
He was also the tactician for Leyton Orient, Ternana, Lecce and most recently Parma, who sacked him in January 2021.
It would be something of a return to Cagliari, as Liverani spent time in their youth academy in 1996.
