Fabio Liverani is another candidate for the Lazio job, with a decisive Maurizio Sarri meeting expected tomorrow.

The Aquile need a new coach after Simone Inzaghi left to take over at Scudetto holders Inter.

Sarri is the first choice and has had several meetings with director of sport Igli Tare.

Sportitalia maintain the decisive meeting with President Claudio Lotito will be on Thursday.

However, Sky Sport Italia point to a new low-cost candidate who could lead the team instead, namely Liverani.

It would be a welcome return to the Olimpico for Liverani, who was a midfielder and fan favourite for the Biancocelesti from 2001-06.

He is currently out of work, having been sacked by Parma in January.

Before that, Liverani had taken Lecce to promotion from Serie B and his style of football impressed, even though they were eventually relegated.

Another option that has already been mentioned for Lazio is former FC Porto coach Vitor Pereira.
