Lecce boss Fabio Liverani says his team struggle to maintain the right attitude against the smaller sides in Serie A. “You can’t play well just against the big teams.”

The Pugliese outfit earned a well-deserved draw against Inter last week, but were thoroughly beaten by Verona this week, and Liverani says he believes the attitude of the players is wrong.

“We can’t keep this mental attitude, it’s an issue that we quickly have to change,” Liverani said in his press conference.

“You can’t just take points against the big sides, you have to have the same hunger against teams on our level. This is what we need to correct.”

Verona have beaten the Giallorossi twice this season, and Liverani says that ultimately they deserved more than his side.

“To date we have suffered two defeats against Verona, they deserved it more than us. The goal is to get a safe position in May.

“Unfortunately I recently only had a team with 13 players, and today I had to make another change with [Panagiotis] Tachtsidis.

“He will take an exam tomorrow to see if he has sprained his knee.”
