Follow all the live updates and reactions after an ECJ ruling saying FIFA and UEFA are ‘abusing a dominant position’ and have no power to prevent the creation of other competitions such as the Super League.

It is probably a historic day for European football as the European Court of Justice has determined that FIFA’s and UEFA’s “rules on prior approval of interclub football competitions, such as the Super League, are contrary to EU law.

A22, the company behind the Super League, reacted on their X account with a brief statement from their CEO, Bernd Reichart. “We have won the #RightToCompete. The UEFA monopoly is over. Football is FREE. Clubs are now free from the threat of sanction AND free to determine their own futures,” said Reichart.

“For fans: We propose free viewing of all Super League matches, for clubs: Revenues and solidarity spending will be guaranteed.”

La Liga was among the first European Leagues to publicly react to the ruling, insisting that the Super League was a selfish and elitist model.

President Gabriele Gravina reiterated the FIGC position on the Super League on Wednesday, saying that any club participating in it would be excluded from Serie A.

Roma, Inter and Atalanta were the first Serie A clubs to react to the ECJ’s ruling.
