Luciano Spalletti’s men secured a 1-1 draw away at Udinese on Thursday, winning the third title in the history of the Partenopei. The last time they were crowned Serie A champions was in 1989-90 during the Diego Maradona era.
There were over 10,000 Napoli at the Dacia Arena in Udine tonight, while 50,000 more watched the games at the Stadio Maradona in Naples and erupted in joy after the final whistle. Among them was Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis, who hadn’t travelled with the team in Udine.
Celebrations in the Capital of Campania will last for days, if not months. Napoli players will spend the night at their hotel in Udine and are expected to be back in town on Friday morning or late afternoon.
