Italy start the preparations for Euro 2020 with a friendly against San Marino, the first match set in Sardinia in 16 years.

The last time Italy travelled to play at Sant’Elia was when Marcello Lippi was in charge, when the stadium in Cagliari was overcrowded by people.

The match ended in a 2-0 win over Russia and this time they are back to host San Marino.

Roberto Mancini’s men are preparing for the European Championship this summer and the CT has confirmed the Casteddu goalkeeper Alessio Cragno will be start at his usual home ground.

Rafael Toloi, Gianluca Mancini, Gian Marco Ferrari and Cristiano Biraghi have been confirmed in defence.

Mancini continues in a 4-3-3 formation, and will give Matteo Pessina, Bryan Cristante and Gaetano Castrovilli a chance to shine in the middle.

The attacking trident should consist of Federico Bernardeschi, Moise Kean and Vincenzo Grifo.

“We will try to bring the best 26 to the European Championship, especially those who are well,” Mancini said at the press conference yesterday. “In this sense, the friendly tomorrow will be used to work on our game plan and to evaluate some players.”
