The former Italy CT pointed at the current form of the three contenders for the two top four spots, but also highlighted that Atalanta are playing for second place in Serie A.

“I’m sorry that someone has to stay out,” Lippi said, according to TMW. “There are some teams that have done very well in the last few games.

“Look at Napoli, Milan, Juventus, they have shown that they have recovered. Let’s see who will stay out.

“If all three win, Juventus remain out, let’s see what happens. Atalanta have the chance to finish second in Serie A after the disappointment in the Coppa Italia, it will be a tough game.”

Roma are not in the Champions League battle and Lippi believes it won’t be easy for Mourinho to turn the Giallorossi into a contender.

“Mourinho will have a lot of work to do.”

Juventus travel to Bologna for their last game of the season, when Napoli host Hellas Verona at the Stadio Diego Maradon on Sunday.
