Mancini is the clear favourite to fill the Italy vacancy, with the Zenit St Petersburg boss making no secret of his desire to land the job and the FIGC confirming it has been in touch with the 53-year-old.
“Mancini is a top Coach with great international experience,” Lippi, who led the Azzurri to World Cup glory in 2006 and is now managing China, told ANSA.
“All three names that have been put forward, I think, have been welcomed by the fans: Ancelotti, Mancini and Ranieri. There was also talk of Gasperini.
“If it’s Mancini, certainly he’ll be a Coach with great international experience. He’s managed great champions before, and it seems to me that he has huge desire to coach the Italy team. That’s the minimum requirement.”
