Genoa have rung the changes ahead of tonight’s clash with fellow mid-tablers Empoli in Serie A.
Following the 2-1 victory at Parma a fortnight ago, Gian Piero Gasperini has replaced the suspended Facundo Roncaglia with his countryman Nicolas Burdisso in central defence, while Giovanni Marchese and Iago Falque are selected in favour of Stefano Sturaro and Maxime Lestienne.
Speaking ahead of the match at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, captain Luca Antonini said: “For us, the last two weeks have been difficult.
“We’re close to the people of Genoa who have been affected by the floods and want to give them a reason to smile.”
Empoli, meanwhile, make just the single alteration in goal, with Davide Bassi replacing Luigi Sepe between the sticks.
Striker Manuel Pucciarelli was in a similarly optimistic mood, telling reporters prior to kick-off: “We've never been afraid, the Coach has done well to convey confidence.
“We are a united group, and this is our strength. There is room for everyone in the squad.”
