Fabrizio Castori’s men are still in the bottom three, but are on a four-round unbeaten run including victories over Udinese and Sampdoria.

Last week they stunned San Siro into silence with Kevin Lasagna’s late goal, holding Inter to a 1-1 draw.

Lorenzo Pasciuti saw red in that match and is therefore suspended today with Jonathan De Guzman and Matteo Fedele sidelined.

Jerry Mbakogu and his pace lead the front line with support from Lorenzo Lollo, but the big change is Fabrizio Poli thrown straight into the starting XI.

Palermo remain as utterly unpredictable as ever, both on and off the field, as this will be the debut for their fifth Coach of the campaign.

Former player Giovanni Tedesco takes over as the nominal tactician, as Guillermo Barros Schelotto does not have the right paperwork yet, while previous caretaker managers Fabio Viviani and Giovanni Bosi have been cast aside.

Schelotto’s 4-3-3 system worked well last week in a 4-1 thrashing of Udinese, but before that Palermo were demolished 4-0 at Genoa, so their away form is a whole different ball game.

Palermo have never beaten Carpi, managing a 2-2 draw earlier back in September and two defeats in the 2013-14 Serie B campaign.
